April 28, 2001 My obligation as an American is to think big and to start small. We all have insights on how we each would like to save the world. But, everyone must begin somewhere. We have to have the ambition to initiate the drive to begin. I got my first gratification from helping others through volunteering my services. My first experience volunteering was at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. While my younger brother was ill, I felt that the least I could do was to help as many in need as possible. I volunteered my services with the hospital's Child Life Program in the oncology unit. I spent nearly forty hours every week spending valuable time with the terminally ill children.
