December 1, 2003 Theodore James 844 Tiger Way] Peshtigo, WI 53734 Dear Theodore: The Friends of Sugar Creek is working to prevent a convenience store development on Sugar Creek, south of Highway 65. This development would destroy one of the last spring-fed marshes in our county, a marsh that is home to an abundance of wildlife, including mink, otters, and the magnificent blue heron. This development would wipe out all viable habitats for these creatures. Furthermore, state botanists have identified hundreds of native species in the Sugar Creek marsh, all of which would be eradicated by the new construction.
