My Ecological Footprint The average ecological footprint in the United States is twenty-four acres per person. With four and a half biologically productive acres per person worldwide, if everyone lived like myself, we would need 1.8 planet Earths. My total footprint is eight acres. Although it is about one third of my fellow Americans, it is almost double my ‘share’ of biologically productive acres throughout the world. I scored the poorest in the food category with 4.2 acres, which is more than half of my total footprint. I eat meat often, one to two times a week and ¾ of the food I eat is packaged.
