Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. His original name was Michael King Junior, and when he was only five years old his father changed both their names after the Protestant reformer. King grew up with equality in his blood. ... Since King was exposed to the Du Bois style of the civil rights movement this could be the reason for trying to get the white people to help his cause. ... King’s father was also involved in the civil rights movement. ... When King was in college, at Morehouse University, he decided to follow his father and become a minister (Levy 133). King then started going to Crozer Theological Seminary and was ordained a minister in 1947. ... King moved to Montgomery Alabama. In 1955 King soon after he moved to Montgomery he became the pastor at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church (134). This is where King started his career as a social activist. ...
