... Ford’s article “Buddhism, Christianity, and The Matrix: The Dialectic of Myth-Making in Contemporary Cinema” the representation of religion is shown. John talks about how there are parallels between different religions, and how The Matrix makes use of the theology from some of those religions, such as Buddhism. One idea that The Matrix does not use however is the idea of love from the Bible, probably because it could not be integrated properly into the situation at hand in The Matrix.
According to Ford, The Matrix has many parallels to Christianity. ... He means that characters in the Matrix are paralleled with Biblical figures. However, The Matrix does not fully show Christian beliefs. ... The Bible has a story of people that are desperate, waiting for salvation, just as the matrix is full of people waiting for their salvation. Chapter 13 of the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians in the Bible, shows this struggle, and the ignorance of people just as the people in the matrix are ignorant of their reality.
