In March of 1910, William Boeing bought a shipyard on the Duwamish River, eventually this became his first airplane factory. Originally the name of his company was Pacific Aero Products, but that only lasted a year, and he then changed it to Boeing Airplane Company. ... It was at this time the Navy started using a couple Boeing Model Cs for trainers. ... However in 1919 the company did make history when William Boeing and pilot Eddie Hubbard used Boeing’s C-700 to carry 60 letters from Vancouver, Canada to Seattle, Washington, making it the first time an international air mail delivery took place. During this time Boeing was kept in business by a few timely orders from the Army Air Service to build 200 pursuit fighter planes, as well as orders to modernize the British built Havilland DH-4 fighter planes.
