Translation of The Bible
The translation of sacred texts such as the Bible or the Koran is a perilous undertaking considering the importance of these texts in certain people’s cultures and lives. Despite the precariousness of performing such a translation it is essential that these texts be rendered in order for others to gain access to them for a variety of purposes (personal interest, research and so on). ... While remaining loyal to the ST with something ancient like the Bible there is a chance that certain words might not be recognizable in today’s culture so the translator might choose to replace that word with something more fitting. ... This paper will examine these practices by comparing selected passages from the King James Version of the Bible (originally published 1611) with La Sacra Bibbia (published 1963, Italy).
