The Commonwealth of Australia that was created from the federation of the
six previous colonies still contained traces of the rivalry that had existed between the
colonies, and the loyalty to the British empire. ... , and their voice in major issues which led to the commonwealth being
modeled around this tension between the states. The decision to stay within the british
Empire though the federation was influenced by many British born who had moved to
Australia and were still loyal to the motherland. ...
Also Australia became a constitutional monarchy because they still felt a desire to stay within the British Empire. ... There were many good points about staying linked to Britain: they get benefits through trade, technology (Australia is quite isolated from the rest of the world) etc.
