Gauss came from a typical family of town workers. ... Gauss could calculate numbers at a very young age and would even help his father with calculating his wages. Gauss taught himself how to read and so began his intellectual journey. Upon entering school teachers took a notice to Gauss natural genius. Though his family was poor, Gauss was funded by the duke of Brunswick allowing him to attend Caroline college. At Caroline college Gauss continued his studies in geometry, algebra, and analysis. After three years studying at Caroline, Gauss attended the University of Gottingen it was here the Gauss achieved his biggest accomplishments.
Gauss after only one year at the University of Gottingen was working on cycoltomic equation and while doing so made a huge discovery.
