To begin, one must first define the word metaphysics. Metaphysics is the branch of philosophy concerned with the question of the ultimate nature of reality. Unlike the sciences, which focus on various aspects of nature, metaphysics goes beyond particular things to inquire about more general questions, such as what lies beyond nature, how things come into being, what it means for something to be, and whether there is a realm of being which is not subject to change and which is therefore the basis of certainty in knowledge (Fieser, G-4). Metaphysics is most closely related to the philosopher, Aristotle. Aristotle actually wrote a literary work in which he called Metaphysics. In this work Aristotle begins to develop what he calls science of first philosophy (Fieser, 81). Aristotle believed that every man by nature has the desire to know. He considered this knowledge wisdom. Metaphysics is more general than other sciences.
