The Archetypical movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark uses complex political and religious symbolism to complement the plot. ... The owner of the ark would have eternal life, and as Brody states, “An army that carries the ark before it, is invincible. ... She accompanies Indiana on his search for the Ark. ... Cairo is also where we are introduced to Rene Belloq, an archeologist who has teamed up with the Nazis to find the ark. He finds the Ark before the Nazis by shining sunlight through a medallion on top of a staff onto a miniature layout of Tanice, just outside of Cairo. He, Sallah and a team of diggers start to dig for the ark, find it, and pull it out with a rope. ... The Nazis then take the ark back to Cairo, but on the way, Indiana intercepts it back from them. ... But the Germans capture the boat, and once again take the ark. ... They open it, only to find sand, and everyone who looked inside the ark was killed by its holy fires.
