Canada has participated in many different ways throughout the different peacekeeping operations. ... ” (Gaffen 13) The reason for peacekeeping in a conflict is not only to prevent further disputes, but to build an environment that will allow for the dispute to settle. (Gaffen 13) Recently, the role of peacekeeping has evolved to include the delivery of humanitarian aid, the supervision of election, the distributions of refugees, the disarming of weapons of mass destruction, and the repairing of destroyed landscapes and habitats.
