Long Distance Relationships
Long distance relationships in college often can work if the two people involved are honest with one another and know what they are getting themselves into. College campuses are notorious for the downfall of relationships due to trust issues and the many temptations that present themselves. All long distance relationships are not just boyfriend/girlfriend relationships either. The same things happen to friendships and even family relationships. An individual must be secure that his or her relationship can withstand the many strains that being apart places on the relationship such as distance, physical separation, and the high cost of maintaining the relationship via email or telephone. ... In order to gain further insight into the topic of long distance relationships I observed a couple which is currently involved in a long distance relationship. ... Over the course of the one-month of observation I was able to observe them closely and take a look at their relationships ups and downs. ... It would seem that trust is the very thread that holds relationships together. ... This was one of the issues that worried myself when I was involved in a long distance relationship. My relationship started off as a short distance one. ... When asked in a survey if they felt the cost of maintaining a long distance relationship played a role in whether or not a person would engage in a long distance relationship and many of them said that money would not be an issue if they were in a serious committed relationship. In fact some couples have found ways to get around the high cost of telephone bills when it comes to long distance relationships. ... That is about 28 hours a week, which if you looked at a long distance plan would cost approximately two hundred fifty dollars a month.
