We accept literacy as being the outcome of a history of education and schooling. From my experiences, this so-called education has been found to be different across the country. ... We want education that teaches our people knowledge of our true history and role in this present society. ... ” (Newton) I agree that today’s youth is not necessarily getting the meaningful education that is needed, however, it is not a racial issue. There is no room for argumentation in respect to minority populations because so much is implemented to ensure equality and fair education for everyone. Another problem with education today is that basic things are no longer being taught. ... Employers struggle to find good people to fill positions in the business world because there appears to be a lack of education. ... A big part of a child’s education is not so much the school they attend, but how well educated their families are. Children tend to reflect off of what they learn and see from their parents and often times, kids whose parents have a higher level of education can succeed at a greater level then children who are less fortunate. ... There is such a shortage in government funding to public school systems that many programs are getting cut and this is not helping in furthering the education of anyone.
