Asian Americans have been waiting for some time now for a film that they can call their own. Many young people were eager to hear about the release of two mainstream pictures this past summer with an Asian American inspired topic. So it was a major disappointment when the “street racing” saga, The Fast and The Furious, featured Asians in the villain roles. Now the community’s image is being tarnished by a piece of hideous propaganda in the form of Justin Lin’s Better Luck Tomorrow. The reprehensible film, Better Luck Tomorrow, exemplifies a movie with a storyline that debases the culture along with virtual nonexistent character development and a ludicrous ending. The Asian American culture is very unique in a sense that it chooses to stay quiet rather than being forced to.
