Greetings differ from country to country and are influenced by the country’s culture, the difference in customs among cultures can cause misinterpretations of the communication. Starting off in an incorrect manner may bring an early if not an abrupt end to the business meeting. ... When greeting foreigners, an Indian man will shake hands with another man, but because of their culture they would not shake hands or otherwise touch a woman. If an Indian business woman is being greeted by a foreigner she may initiate a handshake, but if she does not it is expected that the man would smile and give a slight nod. ... In China when carrying out the handshake if extra warmth is to be shown the left hand is added to the handshake, as in business transactions hugging as well as the touching of anywhere else on the person is unacceptable.
