Society is more concern about their personal appearance. Karl Marx said the upper class or more worried about being thin than the lower class. He said that white women are the one who is concern about getting thin. Due to the upper class wealth, they tend to worry about the body profile and weight. Marx felt that African American is less likely to have an eating disorder. He said that White women have a higher rate of eating disorders. The upper class women have plastic surgeries done on their bodies. Some of them take diet pills to get thin. Marx felt that black women are content with their looks. He said they feel like they don’t need to lose any weight. Marx felt that plastic surgeries on certain body parts are done for fashioned for publicity. The women who have the surgeries are trying to get attention from society hoping to get some type of television act or in a magazine shoot. Marx said, “Big breasts are worth something in the marketplace of our capitalism and patriarchal culture. Tiny waists and large breasts were beginning to come out as the image of feminine beauty. Society has unconsciously made women focus their attention on their looks, which in my opinion has turned into a social disease.
