Attention Deficit Disorder is one of the most common childhood disorders diagnosed today. ... His teachers had told him since the second grade that he had some sort of attention problem, but he wasn’t completely diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder until he was fourteen. ... Dustin has a hard time paying attention in school and doing his homework, he’s easily distracted, often daydreams (causing him to fall very behind in school), and he frequently forgets many things. “Attention Deficit Disorder is very likely caused by biological factors which influence neurotransmitter activity in certain parts of the brain, which have a strong genetic basis” (Jaksa 2). ... Due to the fact that Amphetamines last longer in the body than Methylphenidates and have far less side effects than the other two stimulants, they are a far better treatment for Dustin’s Attention Deficit Disorder. ...
