This ability for an artist’s creativity to be shown leads to the growth of mannerism and the use of classical ideals and naturalism in works of art. They are the only plants in the foreground and are very detailed drawings. The only reason for their placement was to show knowledge of nature, which humanist patrons would have liked to see in works of art.
