Authorities say Daniel Allen Boettcher, under several aliases, has been arrested for drunken driving at least 27 times, moves often, hasn't had a driver's license in years, and changes vehicles and jobs constantly. Catching Boettcher, who was being held Thursday in the Otter Tail County jail after his latest arrest, isn't the problem. The real problem is what to do with him. "He's a real nice guy, very polite, and if you saw him on the street sober, he'd be just your average guy," Otter Tail County Sheriff Brian Schlueter said. "But he has an addiction and unless he has the mind set to change, I think he's reached the point where he needs to go to jail just to keep him off the street." Boettcher, who authorities believe has likely been convicted of drunken driving more often than any other Minnesotan, could face a prison sentence of up to seven years under a felony drunken-driving law passed by the Minnesota Legislature last year.
