Plato s View on Justice

Justice in a sense is a very broad term and means many things to different people. In the Republic, Plato attempts to show through the character and speech of Socrates that justice is better than injustice, and that it is the good that men must strive for even if they could still be rewarded for being unjust. What exactly is Plato’s view on justice- or what is justice to him?
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines justice as “ (1) the maintenance or administration of what is just especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited rewards or punishments. ... Plato had his own view of what justice was, way before Merriam-Webster came up with theirs.
For Plato, justice has to do with virtue and the goodness of man.
