Diabetes

... This disease is know as diabetes.
There are various different forms of this disease, but the two most common forms are what are known as immunemediated diabetes mellitus and insulin resistant mellitus. For ease of use the former is often called type 1 diabetes and the latter type 2 diabetes. Both of these diseases result in high blood glucose levels if not treated, which can be done in various ways depending on the type of diabetes.
Often times type 1 diabetes appears in the earlier years of a persons life, such as in childhood or the early teenage years. For these reasons, type 1 diabetes used to be referred to as juvenile-onset diabetes. ... For the reason that type 2 diabetes often does not begin to develop until adulthood, it was often referred to as adult-onset diabetes.
