Site Visit: United Methodist Church of Thousand Oaks
On November 2, 2003 I attended the 9:30 service at the United Methodist Church of Thousand Oaks on Janss Road. The church exhibited a type of pyramidal architecture, with huge stained glass windows on each side. As we walked into the church, we were greeted by current church members and handed a bulletin with the agenda for the day. The church attire was anywhere from semi-casual to somewhat formal. ... We then took our seats towards the back of the church. ... About five minutes before the service started, two children came in to light the candles and then took their seats at the front of the church. Following them was the church choir, who entered with a song titled, “He Leadeth Me”.
This signified the beginning of the service, and we were then encouraged to shake hands with members of the church and introduce ourselves. The lady sitting next to me introduced herself and welcomed me as guest in the church.
