Though King David of Benjamin has made some fairly odd choices in the past, I still believe that he is extremely admirable. ... “David is one of the most honored and most loved characters of the Old Testament” (Encyclopedic Dictionary, p. ... I would say that that’s pretty admirable. ...
David was born in Bethlehem as the youngest of eight sons to Jesse. ... At a young age while he was working out in the fields, Samuel anointed him as the future king, and David just went back to the sheep very confused. Some time later, King Saul was at war with the Philistines, and David’s brothers were fighting in the battle, so David was a messenger between his brothers and his family. In this battle, David ended up defeating a great giant, which led him to join King Saul, as a soldier and a musician. Because he was now connected to King Saul, he became best friends with Jonathan, Saul’s son. David also married Saul’s daughter, Michal, who helped him escape Saul’s guards when David and Saul’s relationship had not gone so well. Eventually, Saul did not have David doing anything, so he tried to sell himself as a mercenary to a Philistine king, but it didn’t work out. So David took his men to a cave in Israel, where his family, as well as people who were angry with the king, joined him; this is where he first became a ruler of people. Saul eventually committed suicide, and David was made king. King David continued life from then on leading many, going through battles, hardships, and decisions, but he came out admirable in the end.
Throughout David’s life, he did many admirable things. One of these admirable things was when he slew the great Philistine soldier, Goliath.
