3 Requiem for a Dream The motion picture “Requiem for a Dream” is an emotionally charged film linking the lives of a lonely widow, her son Harry, his girlfriend Marion, and his best friend Tyrone. Set in Coney Island, Brooklyn all four characters lose their grip on their dreams, has their addiction to drugs grows. Has their addictions grow they become more and more desperate to try and hold on, refusing to let go, of their dreams. No matter how hard they tried, they all freefell into a nightmare; costing them their lives. Drugs destroy all hope of people’s dreams and drugs become the only thing important to them. Harry’s mother, Sara Goldfarb spent her days watching infomercials and eating chocolate alone in her apartment. After a vague phone call that promised to put her on television (her dream) she started to take diet pills so that she could fit into an old, fancy dress for her big moment. The longer and longer Sara Goldfarb took the pills the more and more she got addicted.
