“Management of Stress” by Sarah Ryan brings up a very important aspect of life for the workforce of the 1990s and today. This aspect is that corporations are beginning to gear their work hours towards increasing productivity and not allowing these hours to be flexible to the worker. ... Ryan gives examples of both where workers have succeeded in winning better hours from their employers and other examples that show there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to create an atmosphere for workers to be both productive and not burnt out. ... As stated in the article, as technology advances it creates ways for corporations to use this new technology to do the work that people once got paid to do. ... The text mentions how as technology advances it is good for the upper classes, but the lower classes suffer because the work they were once paid to do can now be done for free by a machine.
