Understanding Slavery

When discussing slavery and how it was an inhumane institution, those discussing this topic have to be very careful. Looking back or addressing things that took place during slavery had and still have major effects on those who were involved with slavery, and those who are now being informed about slavery. Slavery is considered an inhumane institution because of the many problems it produced during its time. Slavery produced problems such as irresponsibility, hatred, illiteracy, ignorance, and many broken spirits. ... During slavery, a slave’s only responsibility, as far as he knew, was to abide by his master and do whatever he needed to be done when he needed it done.
