Living on the plains was not an easy life style. Work was never hard to find for all of the tribe men, women, and even children. Not only was work that needed to be done a hardship for the Lakota on the prairie, they faced many other troubles in their life. On numerous accounts the men were called to fight in battles or just small fights between two tribes or against the American soldiers. Battle was always a worry for the Lakota people. Another hardship and one of the main ones was problems with the buffalo. The buffalo were always on the move so the tribe would have to pick up and follow the food. Not only that but if the white man got a hold or in contact with a herd of buffalo they would kill them leaving everything but their hides to waist and unable to be used. This devastated the Lakota and caused many problems for them. The whites caused major problems for the Lakota and many other Indian tribes in this time period.
