On July 4, 1776, the American colonies won their independence from the thresholds of English rule and became the United States of America after a long and hard fought war against Great Britain. The United States of America was built upon a strong constitution in order to protect its citizens from the oppression they had faced under the English Empire. The first ten amendments to the constitution, also known as the Bill of Rights, guarantees' the "induvidual" rights and freedoms that we all share as American citizens. As American citizens, we hold the right to keep and bear arms, but today, that right is under fire and a source of heavy debate by those who oppose The Second Amendment of the Constitution. I believe that we need to keep the Second Amendment sacred in America without alteration. The Second Amendment "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" (The Second Amendment of the Constitution) clearly states that Americans can own weapons for the sake of personal defence without government interference( MYNRA.org).
