Abstract
In order to be an effective leader, a manager must be process oriented and proactive. A proactive leader not only effectively identifies and solves problems within an organization and understands the process, they create a process to ensure that the process created prohibits the problem from reoccurring. ... As examined previously, the most effective solution is to create a fundamental cultural shift that includes: developing the organization’s managers and providing them the right tools to become effective leaders; developing a formalized hiring process and involve the key stakeholders in the decision making process. The process design and development of this solution are discussed.
The Idealized Process
AEM’s staff are what makes the organization successful. The organization must create a more constructive, adequate and proficient environment to ensure a reduction in staff turnover, an increase in staff morale and ultimately a successful process and outcome. ... In addition, the organization’s hiring, orientation and training process is inadequate. There is no formalized process to ensure that effective hiring practices are employed. ... The function of the process is to create a more acceptable environment for one of the primary stakeholders of the organization, the staff.
The idealized process would include adequate training for those current managers and a formal hiring, orientation and training program. This new hiring process would be described as follows:
As denoted in the illustration, the process must be formalized for all steps within the process. In order to prohibit the problem from reoccurring, the development of a formalized process is critical. Understanding the needs of the employees can only be accomplished through involvement of employees in the formation of the formalized process.
The other process that must be considered is a development program to provide an understanding of effective leadership for the current managers.
