The “horrible yellow wallpaper in Paul’s room could have reflected Paul’s feelings of sickness, decay, caution, and cowardice, which is unlike a regular or bright yellow that represents joy, royalty, and happiness. ... First the fact that the wallpaper is horrible in Paul’s case this shows how his life decays away and he became a coward that he felt the only way out was suicide. Paul felt that his life should have been more then what is was. Since the wallpaper to appear old, Paul could have been afraid to grow old before he could have his highlife.
