Favoritism and the portrayal of a select gender in writing can be undoubtedly controversial and degrading to the opposite sex. In Shiloh and Other Stories, Bobbie Ann Mason writes whole-heartedly as a feminist, lavishing strength and success upon women, while demeaning men with inferiority and injustice. I do not like her style of writing because she puts down the male sex, when we now live in a world based on the principles of one sex not being greater than the other. ... ” Set in the time when feminism began to plant its roots across America, Mason writes about a young woman named Sabrina, and her boyfriend, Edwin, who is 23 years her senior. ...
