Current Health Issues Assignment: Our Assignment was to go to an AA meeting and tell what happened The meeting was Saint Gerard Catholic Church in Paterson New Jersey. I went to the meeting to get a better understanding of what it was like to be under and addiction to alcohol and this is what happened. The open meeting started at 7pm, I was greeted first by a member of the clergy who thought I was an alcoholic. He told me that it was all right that I came out to proclaim myself an Alcoholic with a problem. I then began to explain to him that I was a student from William Paterson University visiting for the open meeting. I then proceeded to ask him about what I should expect to get out of the meeting. He then told me that some of the stories your going to hear are heart wrenching and that these people came there for help not criticism.
