In the December Issue of Atlantic Monthly John Kerry, potential democratic presidential candidate and Vietnam Veteran, shares the extensive letters and notes he kept while serving in the Navy during the War (which are soon to be published in an upcoming book by Historian, Douglas Brinkley). ... In one instance he wrote, “It was when one of your men got hit or you got hit yourself that you felt most absurd -- that was when everything had to have a meaning in order for it all to be worthwhile and inevitably Vietnam just didnt have any meaning. ... These were common sentiments of many soldiers who fought in Vietnam. ...
