The Second World War, which is usually told only from an American point of view, greatly diminishes the 3 main reasons why the allied powers prevailed over the axis powers. When asked what they remember most of WWII, many people can only recall the invasion of Normandy and the European theatre of battle. Most do not remember or do not even know about the long war of attrition between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany that helped to reduce the number of enemy troops the Americans would confront on the western front. Even more do not understand that the American Army’s most invaluable resource was not in their troops, but in the mighty industrial machine at home that kept all the allies supplied. Most importantly of all, most don’t know that if Adolf Hitler, the dictator if Nazi Germany, had managed his armies and his country better, things may have played out entirely different.
