1. What are some of the negative and positive experiences you have previously had in school? Most of my negative experiences came from having too much pressure put on me at a young age. If I didn’t bring home a straight A report card I would be punished. My television would be taken out of my room, my phone would be disconnected, I wouldn’t be able to visit my friends, and I would get yelled at to no end. I was always stressing out about my grades and this continued until I graduated high school. Instead of going to college I decided to go straight into the military to get away from the school environment. I could’ve gone to a college far away from my family but in all honesty, I wanted nothing to do with school at the time. I felt that I needed a break. One of my positive experiences was being in band. I played the flute during concert season and the drums during marching band. I loved being in band and therefore I looked forward to going to school everyday. I enjoyed most of my classes except for Calculus but doing something that I enjoyed made it worth it for me to go in and sit through problem solving every afternoon. I think that if I hadn’t had my extracurricular activities school would’ve probably been a hard ordeal for me. Another positive aspect were the close friends I had and still have. I would get to see my friend’s everyday and hang out. We would do homework together and had our study groups. Friends help keep you sane when times are tough. Whenever I felt pressured about a test or an assignment that was due, I could always count on them to keep me motivated. I am glad they where there.
