The concert I chose to see was the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. The concert was held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday October 26 at the Germantown Performing Arts Center. The featured performer was Lynn Harrell, who played the cello. The audience was mostly an older crowd of senior citizens. I felt very out of place and uncomfortable when I arrived. This was my first time going to an orchestal performance. The first piece played was "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" by John Adams. This piece was very upbeat but at the same time it seemed suspenseful. The tempo was allegro or vivace. The dynamics for the most part were forte. This piece was very different from the other pieces that were played at the concert. It was a pretty short piece. It reminded me of a car chase scene in a movie because of the fast tempo and the liveliness of the piece.
