Summary
Executive Summary This Project is a demonstration of what we have learned over the past 11 weeks of class, it involved interviewing managers on how they run their business and what they have found that works for them and what has not. They shared many insights of what it is like to be a manager today. They shared what they have learned from their experiences, they shared what they have done right and what they have done wrong and what they took from their mistakes. Then we got to interview the other side, the employee's. We got to get insights from them on what they feel their managers do effectively and what they need to improve on to become more effective. The reason for doing this project is to apply what we have learned during the course. It brings you back to day one of class and all that you have gained from the readings and lecture. It helps you apply the concepts we have just learned to a real world setting. Through the interviews of management and employee's we were able to analyze what managers are doing and how employees are reacting to management. Also, it highlighted the strong ad weak qualities of mangers today. I got a lot out of this project, it showed us what it is like to be a manager today. At the same time we got to take a lot of great ideas and concepts with us that we can use later in life. It showed the strenghts and weaknesses of mangers today through the eyes of the employees. It gave us insight on what to expect when we are managers down the road. It showed the similarities between workers and staff. Background When I started this project, I wanted it to be kind of broad so when I choose the people I was going to interview I jumped around. I interviewed two females and three males. When asking the question of years on job I had a wide range of response, one individual had held the job for only three years and another had been in a similar line of work for 27 years. The reason for which I had such a wide range was due to the fact that I interviewed people of varying ages to get different viewpoints from different generations.
