The Hardest Part When I started crying I wasn’t sure why. It could be because of Riley, maybe because of Tatum, or maybe because of myself. I always hated ice cream, Tatum told me that it was made from mice tails when we went on a diet one summer so that we wouldn’t eat it. This is the place where Riley proposed. Proposed? I am 17! That would be insane. I guess it doesn’t matter. He’ll never talk to me again now anyway. It’s time for me to talk about my “feelings.” That damn shrink. She says I need to write them or anything just to get them out. So here’s my story. Hi! I’m Naomi. 5 foot 7 inches, not skinny, not fat, long red hair and green eyes. I love my eyes. I can be conceited about it. Actually, I can be conceited about a lot of things. That’s how I was brought up. I’m better than you. That’s how I met Tatum. I hated her. She hated me. We didn’t get along. She was Little Miss Class President and I’m a bit of a slacker. Yet, we have the same personalities. Loud, Bitchy, and extremely full of ourselves. It didn’t really work for us to be anything but enemies. We always tried to top each other. I actually started to do homework just so that I could be better than her. It worked. And at out 8th grade graduation, she told me it worked for her too. Stupid slut. She knew what I would do. And wouldn’t you know it? She became my best friend, my one and only, my soulmate. Which brings me to Riley. Could someone be any cuter? I think not! Freshman yea, Tatum had a class with Riley Miles and he was new from Idaho. We let him sit with us at lunch and when he got up to throw things away I leaned to Tatum and before I could say anything she whispered, “I knew you’d like to know that Idaho was hiding the perfect guy for you under a sack of potatoes.” We just laughed. He was my steady boyfriend. It sounds cliché but we were perfect. We had it going for us. The “too cute” couple. Riley was a football player, not the star, but good enough for everyone to know him.
