I always hated them. Most of them where put up just to be in line with today’s trends, and most usually, ramps aren’t adapted for people using wheelchairs. The ramps which work, are unsightly, like the one at St John’s cathedral in Valletta. If it is was appropriate, the ramp would have to end up at the adjacent street. According to the National Commission Persons with Disability in Santa Venera, the following conditions should be adhered to in all instances: About a year ago there was a TV program, where the topic discussed was ramps, and why it’s difficult for handicapped people to enter museums and other places of interest. I could see with my own eyes that by installing a ramp you wouldn’t be making it easier for the needy to enter.
