“Seniors” and “Sex without Love” show two different attitudes toward sex. “Seniors” by Alberto Rios is a poem about wishing to make love for the first time while “Sex without Love” talks about how people have sex all the time without having love. “Seniors” is told in the first person point of view while “Sex without Love” is told in the omniscient point of view. This is one technique that is used to tell the difference of opinion in sex, the other is the attitude of the speaker.
“Seniors” by Alberto Rios is a reflection of events that happened to a man in high school. ... They did not have sex that night because they were young; he had a girl not a woman. ... He dreams of making love to women, the women that have grown up from being girls. ...
“Sex Without Love” gives sex a negative connotation. By the diction used it seems that the speaker is a parent talking about their child and how having sex without love is not right. ... How does the speaker know that they do not love each other?
