Gutenberg had a childhood which was much different than ours. Gutenberg was born around 1398 in Mainz, Germany into a wealthy family, connected by marriage to the mayor of the town. His full real name was Johannes Gensfleisch zur Laden zu Gutenberg, but he encountered some problems with his surname, which translates into English as “goose-flesh”. He adopted the name of the area where his family lived, “Zum Gutenberg”. ...
