Working with Beer’s Law Lab Report UV-Vis 1. The graphs are attached. 2. a) Yes, absorbance vs. concentration graphs are linear for all three wavelengths. b) There shouldn’t be any differences because according to Beer and Lambert, intensity of light exiting from a solution when compared to the amount of light entering the solution decreases exponentially with concentration. Since our solutions were between 0.1 and 0.01 of the concentration of the stock solution, all three wavelengths graphs were linear. 3. Since absorbance and concentration are directly proportional, it is important that we use maximum absorbance to determine the concentration of an unknown solution because the wavelength of absorbance of that unknown solution can be anywhere between minimum and maximum.
