... I couldn’t have gotten a more appropriate job because my personal interest to socialize with people and getting to know them has made me successful and thus I think that Im worthy of this job. Through my job, I meet people; listen to their stories…I tell them some of mine and along the way I’ve been afforded with rare glimpses into their personalities and character. ... Ofcourse all of this has its drawbacks because you can never be sure of what is actually going on in a person’s mind and a lot of time you have to put up with the unreasonable behavior and demands of the customers.
My encounters are plenty and I have a lot of stories to tell but getting into all of that would not serve my purpose of letting the people know about one particular acquaintance, which I had with the most unusual person. He was a regular customer of ours and many doubted his sanity and yet when you actually get to know him you realize that a person couldn’t be much saner. My friendly nature and easy manner had already made me popular amongst the customers and this was just my ticket to know this eccentric person. ... The most astonishing thing about this person was that even though he was a millionaire, looking at him you could easily mistake him for someone’s gardener or a homeless person…so was his appearance. I’m quite sure that he could have easily afforded a Gucci or Versace suit and yet everytime I saw him he would be wearing the same tweed jacket over a well-worn shirt with baggy trousers…his hair always unkempt. ... He had never ever worked in his life as he had inherited a fortune from his ancestors and I guess that was what his real problem was.
