Hamlet Film Reaction Paper
Each of the Hamlet movies watched in class portrayed the play Hamlet in a different way. ... The directors in these two movies took very different approaches to showing the play Hamlet in a film.
Franco Zeffirelli’s version was much more conservative and kept the tradition of Hamlet. ... I thought Mel Gibson was excellent and especially captured Hamlet’s anger in the scene with Ophelia. The viewer could really tell that Hamlet had felt betrayed and lied to. When Hamlet starts yelling at the walls and telling Ophelia to “take thee to a nunnery”, Mel Gibson really shows anger and resentment toward everyone. ... Mel Gibson also plays this scene excellent because you can really get a sense that Hamlet is really troubled and is battling with himself over what he should do.
