... In this play there was a character named Mark Antony that gave the best speech through out the hole play. Mark Antony gave his speech at Caesar’s funeral to the Roman people. He gave his speech in the way he did to get the Roman’s the help him go against the conspirator’s. In Antony’s speech he used many different persuasive devices. The ones that I will talk about are the one’s that I thought were most important.
One of the persuasive devices that Antony used in his speech was specific evidence, the use of exact details or facts. Antony used specific evidence to keep the Roman’s eye’s on him so they would choose him over Brutus. Some of the specific evidence that Antony used was the line that talked about the crown which said, “ I thrice presented him a kingly crown.” (3:2:97) Antony used the crown as a specific evidence to show that Caesar was a good man and that he turned the crown 3 times. Antony used Nervii as another specific evidence which said, “ That day he overcame the Nervii.” (3:2:174) Antony used Nervii to show what Caesar had did when he was alive. The last specific evidence that Antony used was the line that talked about Caesar’s closet which said, “ I found it in his closet; tis his will.” (3:2:130) Antony used this to show that Caesar had left a will and Antony has got it so that the Roman’s will be shocked and will stay to see if Antony will read it. Antony wanted that so that the Roman’s would stay and listen to him, and the use of specific evidence help him do so.
