Can war be justified?
The evils of war have been well documented throughout years and many in this world are familiar with its horrors either through first-hand experience, reading storybooks or watching war movies. War is caused by many factors; some of them include political aggression, greed, ambition and national self-aggrandizement. Not every war is justified but war can be justified. However, a war can only be justified when it is waged as a last resort by a legitimate authority to redress a wrong suffered. Furthermore, the ultimate goal of a just war must be to re-establish peace and the war must be launched with a reasonable chance of success.
A justified war can only be waged as a last resort, when all non-violent options are exhausted. ... A war is just only if it is waged by a legitimate authority as any war waged by non-legitimate authority will not only violate the international laws restraining on the uses of force, but also fail to gain support from people worldwide.
