Without a doubt it was totally unnecessary for both of these bombs to be dropped on Japan for many a reason. ... Successful blockades were established bordering the main islands of Japan; conventional weapons already had bombed the main cities heavily. ... “It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. ... ” In addition, Joseph Stalin, the present leader of the USSR (now Russia) at that time, was going to ally with America against Japan.
