Tonight’s debate focuses on why we feel that PepsiCo Inc., an already well known and financially strong company, and their recent merge with Quaker Oats is creating an anticompetitive environment for other businesses. Before the merge, PepsiCo’s portfolio of brands ranged from, of course, Pepsi, and then Mountain Dew, Dr. ... Before the merge, in 2001, PepsiCo was the fifth-largest food and beverage company with approximately $26 billion in revenues. After the merge, in late 2001, Pepsi gained brands such as Gatorade, and various other Quaker brands.
