War of the worlds The science fiction novel ‚The War of the Worlds‘ written by Herbert George Wells in 1898,describes a world invaded by Martians, The Martians invade earth because the resources needed for their survival on mars have been depleted. Because their resources have been used they search for a new planet and they find earth. The Martians then start to invade earth starting with England they sweep through the country crushing what little resistance the humans put up. They destroyed the English army by using their heat rays, this is technology developed by the Martians that allow them to fire an invisible beam of immense heat at an object. During the story the invaders do seem unstoppable, any effort made by the humans to hold up the Martians advance is crushed In the beginning of the book the narrator, who writes scientific texts, explains why the Martians invaded Earth.
